         Monument's Description

Square and round are universal shape symbols in both Vietnamese and American cultures. In the Vietnamese culture these symbols represent perfection and are used for well wishing to one another. Within this monument, the Vietnam War Memorial in Westminster reflects this idea in three main sections:

First section: The 10ft bronze statue depicting two soldiers, a Vietnamese and an American standing side by side, is positioned in the middle of a 2/3 circle of black marble granite. At the two ends of the circular black marble are two triangular walls representing the two national flags at half-staff.

Second section: To gain entrance to the Memorial, according to ancient belief, one has to climb up three steps to get closer to the deceased then step down once inside to show reverence.

Third section: A big bronze urn is positioned in the middle to gather the spirit of the deceased. The other structures of the Memorial like the flag poles and the other decorating items all embody the ideas and images of the two cultures.
